THE ESK DISTRICT CO-OP SUPORTS THE
LOCAL COMMUNITY

The Co-op currently owns and operates a IGA foodstore and Thrifty Link Hardware store in both Esk and Toogoolawah.

It is owned by some 1500 shareholders, the majority who live and work in the Brisbane Valley. Those shareholders elect a Board of Directors to oversee the operations of the Co-op.

The Co-op employs some 62 local staff, and in the past financial year paid those staff just over $1.1million in wages.

In the past financial year the Co-op donated some $20,000 to local organisations through it’s community giving program, as well as another $3200 through the IGA community chest program.

The Co-op is committed to purchasing local produce whenever possible.

For example, flowers from Mrs. Fay Lowry, milk products from David Brischke,  herbs and seedlings from Mrs. Berniece Julius, meat from Brisbane Valley Meats, tomatoes from Esk Hydroponics, as well as bakery products from the Esk Bakery.

The Co-op also supports other local suppliers and businesses such as the Toogoolawah Newsagency, Allens Transport, Brisbane Valley Hire, Toogoolawah Post Office, Brisbane Valley Woodworks,  Budget PC Direct, Neil Day Electrician, Hog Transport, Country Computers, Nat’s No Nonsense Plumbing, Seymours,  Toogoolawah Air, Lees tyres, Kens Car Care, Eagle Forklifts, Valley FM, Lyn Verrall Electrician, just to name a few.
